Maître Reid was a professor for 33 years with the Faculty of Law of Laval University of which he was the first elected Dean (1969-1973). He was director of the Quebec City section of the Bar School (1968-1969). He chaired the Committee on the reform of the Quebec Code of Civil Procedure (1988-1991) and participated therein (1998-2001). He is a member of the Quebec Bar Committee on the Court of Appeal and of the Quebec Bar Review Committee. He has written a number of legal works, notably The Alter Ego of the Code of Civil Procedure which will be in its 24th edition and of the Dictionary of Quebec and Canadian Law. He has also been the author or the joint author of numerous reports on various subjects, mainly on civil procedure, and has been co-editor of a number of bills relating to the Code of Civil Procedure. He was in charge of the preparation of the Law on Class Actions. He has played an active role with the Quebec Bailiffs association and with the International union of Bailiffs. A sought-after lecturer at the international as well as the national level, he has shared his expertise during conferences bearing on the reforms of the Code of Civil Procedure and on judicial law in general.

He was the president and founder of the Trident Theater of Quebec. He acted as Chairman of the Board of the Orford Arts Center for seven years.

Me Reid a été professeur pendant 33 ans à la Faculté de droit de l’Université Laval dont il fut le premier doyen élu (1969-1973). Il a été directeur de l’École du Barreau, section de Québec (1968-1969). Il a présidé le Comité de réforme du Code de procédure civile du Québec (1988-1991) et en a été un participant (1998- 2001). Il est membre du Comité du Barreau de Québec sur la Cour d’appel ainsi que du Comité sur la Revue du Barreau du Québec. Il a écrit plusieurs ouvrages juridiques, notamment l’Alter Ego du Code de procédure civile qui en sera bientôt à sa 24e édition et le Dictionnaire de droit québécois et canadien. Il a également été l’auteur ou le coauteur de nombreux rapports portant sur divers sujets, principalement en procédure civile, et a été corédacteur de plusieurs projets de loi concernant le Code de procédure civile. Il a agi à titre de responsable de la préparation de la Loi sur le recours collectif. Il a joué un rôle actif auprès de la Chambre des huissiers de justice du Québec et de l’Union internationale des huissiers de justice. Conférencier recherché tant à l’échelle nationale qu’internationale, il a partagé son expertise lors de conférences portant sur les réformes du Code de procédure civile et sur le droit judiciaire en général.
Rayonnement
Il a été le président-fondateur du Théâtre du Trident de Québec. Il a agi en tant que président du Conseil d’administration du Centre d’arts Orford pendant sept ans.

Maître Hubert Reid is an expert in judicial law whose expertise has been regularly solicited in the course of the numerous reforms to the Code of Civil Procedure.
Professor at Laval University for 33 years, and dean of the Law Faculty, Maître Reid has been a lecturer in the context of permanent training courses at the Quebec Bar. He is currently director of publishing at Wilson & Lafleur Ltd.
